The Food Was Hot.....
Many of you may remember Susan Plunkett from Jazzberrys, the vegetarian restaurant at the Genesee Coop or Jazzberrys Uptown on East Avenue. Both of these ventures allowed her to combine her two loves: food and music.
Jazzberrys Uptown was acafé that served business customers by day, an eclectic group of diners at night and seven days a week attracted people from all areas of this community to groove to the finest jazz, blues, folk and alternative music. Susan’s early work with community leaders laid the groundwork for the East End, now an incredibly vibrant part of this city that stretches from Eastman Theater to Alexander Street.
....The Music Was Cool!
Lunches at Jazzberrys pioneered wrap sandwiches 25 years before every other restaurant around. The dinner menu offered an exciting menu of ethnic fusion, which is now the trend at trendy restaurants. Susan made vegetarian foods that were colorful, creative and positively delicious. And she would make special meals that catered to anyone’s special dietary needs.
JazzBrunch broke the mold for Sunday morning dining, moving way beyond eggs and pancakes to include stuffed French toast, Huevos Rancheros and live music. Are you getting hungry yet? |
